Education Grants for Veterans

Costs of college continue to increase across the nation. Many people are aware that a college education has many advantages. College graduates, for instance, are paid more and have a lower rate of unemployment. If you are on a low income, you may be wondering how to pay for college. There are many education grants available for veterans. These can make an education more affordable.

Grants are gifts given to people in order to help them achieve their goals or get by. Unlike loans, grants do not require repayment. Veterans can benefit from education grants that make college more affordable and help them finish school without accumulating a large amount of debt. You can also apply for as many grants as you think you are eligible for. There is no limit on how many funds you can receive or apply for.

Pell Grants

Veterans can receive education grants from the federal government. Pell Grants go to those with low income. You must also be pursuing a Bachelor’s, Graduate, or Professional degree to qualify for a Pell Grant. You must also be enrolled in an accredited institution, whether public or private.

You can receive $6,195 through a Pell grant for the 2019-20 school year. However, the amount is dependent on the tuition costs, your income, and whether you attend full-time or part-time. The money will be sent to either your school or to you if you receive a grant. Each year you attend school, you will have to reapply for this grant. You can apply for the Pell Grant at any time during the year.

Pat Tillman Grants

This program was created by his family and friends to honor his memory. Veterans and their families can receive education grants to help them obtain a degree. You must be a military veteran or on active duty and pursuing a college degree to qualify. Every February, the application period opens.

The grant amounts range between $4,000 and $12,000. They are divided into four equal payments. You will receive one payment each year for the next four years.

Grants are awarded at the end of each May. The application window is from January to April. You must be a U.S. citizen, demonstrate financial need, possess a GED or high school diploma, and have not been convicted for selling or possessing drugs. Education grants are available for part-time or full-time undergraduate programs, including online courses. AMVETS education grant applications for veterans can be submitted online.
